Spring Break Camp 2024 - Tuesday

Spring Break Camp 2024 - Tuesday

Day 2 at camp was another morning packed with creativity and excitement! Once again, we had two fantastic crafts lined up, each offering a unique blend of exploration and classic artistry.

In the morning, we delved into the world of neo-expressionism, where emotions take center stage in bold, vibrant ways. Inspired by the expressive style of Jean-Michel Basquiat, we embarked on a journey to create our own Basquiat dinosaurs (Pez Dispenser). Using a variety of mediums, we layered on colors and textures, letting our feelings guide each brushstroke. The result? A colorful array of expressive masterpieces that truly reflected our individuality.

After a healthy snack break, we dove into a lesson inspired by the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Learning about each character's namesake artist and their renowned works was both educational and fascinating. The students all shared impressive tidbits of knowledge they had on Renaissance art, including some conspiracy stories about the Mona Lisa! But the real surprise came when we discovered what our counselors had been up to during the lesson...

Underneath every table, painting supplies were secretly set up. When it was time to unleash our inner artists, we were greeted with the unique challenge of painting upside down—our very own rendition of Michelangelo's Sistine Chapel ceiling! It was an exhilarating and unforgettable experience to create art from a completely different perspective.

Overall, Day 2 was a perfect blend of fun and learning, with crafts that turned out incredibly creative and expressive. We can't wait to see what adventures Day 3 will bring!
